Message from the President

Welcome to the Oliver Curling Club’s new website and our club’s 2011-2012 season.

We have been curling at OCC since December 1970.  Our club is run by its membership and provides opportunities to curl in a variety of day, evening, senior, fun and beginner leagues.  We host a variety of competitive and fun bonspiels, and our members attend regional and provincial bonspiels.

The heart and soul of our club is its community of volunteers.  They make everything possible and I would like to thank and applaud our outgoing board and our membership volunteers and community sponsors for their work and support last year. 

Off the ice, over the past season, our club enjoyed a variety of social and entertainment events. These included:

A dinner in early December with a silent auction – a great place to pick up some gifts or local wines.

A Grey Cup Party.

A Super Bowl Party.

A perogy dinner with travel slides of the South Pacific.

A Valentine’s Day Dinner with ‘Elvis.’

All events are popular and excellent value. Everyone is welcome!  Dates and details of this year’s events will be prominently communicated by our information emails.

Curling is a great social winter activity with balance and strength health benefits. 

Ex-curlers – come back and give it another look.  The stick can get around the arthritic knees.  Non-curlers – try our free fall curling lessons.  Everyone - get on our email list for special events. 

The curling rink has always been the centre of Canadian recreation in the winter.
